Fern fever reshaped England’s gardens in Victorian times, bringing a wild, primeval feel to landscape design. This raw spirit echoes in Derek Jarman’s garden in the wasteland.His legendary Prospect Cottage on the Kent coast, that he bought in 1986, turned the rugged, stony land into a garden like no other. The colours come from Jarman’s Chroma (1994) and his diaries — a deeply personal study of colour, life, and art.

We started by photographing hoses in gardens and urban spaces. The hose became a symbol — an "anonymous" sculpture with no author, but with rhythm and personality. Each hose coils in its own way. The black ends aren't hollow, but finished with black enamel — a little trompe l'œil.
