Description
Jeanne Baret was an 18th-century French botanist and explorer. Disguised as a man, she joined botanist Philibert Commerson on a botanical expedition. They explored Brazil, Tahiti, and Mauritius, studying and collecting plant specimens. Despite challenges and the discovery of her true gender, she continued the journey and made valuable contributions. She became the first woman known to circumnavigate the globe. But after the expedition, 70 specimens were named after Commerson, and none — after Jeanne (it was so until 2012). The Baret flower is our call for courage and passion that help breaking societal barriers, and a gesture of respect for professionals who follow their dreams. Adjustable length.
