The Baret flower is named after Jeanne Baret, the first woman to circumnavigate the globe in the 18th century. Jeanne joined the service of the botanist Philibert Commerson and, when he was sent on a global expedition, Jeanne disguised herself as a young man and became his assistant. Commerson died during the journey, and Jeanne returned to France only eight years later. Jeanne handed over all the plants she had collected with Commerson to a museum. Seventy species were named after Commerson, and none in honor of Jeanne, and we want to correct this.&nbsp;A talisman flower for everyone who goes against stereotypes and cultivates their life's work.
